This has started with Super Star Mahesh Babu's 'Dookudu' movie. The film was a blockbuster at the box-office and one of the best in Mahesh Babu's career. That film has minted money at the ticket window and it would have been respectable for the production house and even the fans of Mahesh Babu, if the original numbers were released by the production house, but they didn't. Same happened with 1-Nenokkadine, which was released this year.
Nenokkadine was declared as a flop at the box-office but Mahesh, Sukumar and 14 Reels were appreciated by some sections of audiences for making a path-breaking film. Even after the film's debacle at the box-office, the production house has released an official note stating that the film has done well and completed 100 days. It would have been respectable for the production house if they have moved on and focused on their upcoming projects. Things were the same with Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer 'Legend' as well. This film has proved Balayya's stamina at the box-office and the actor surprised everyone with his performance and screen presence at the age of 53.
Legend is the biggest grosser for Balakrishna and it would have been appreciated if the actual collections were released. The film has done pretty good business both in overseas and India. But the producers have once again come up with manipulated numbers that caused disappointment for the fans of Balayya. Gone are the days, when people used to know about the collections of a film, only when an official note was released by the producers.
Thanks to the technology and social media platform, many people are able to get the actual numbers from the distributors. It's time for the productions houses (Not only 14 Reels) to know the fact that releasing fake numbers will not only effect the credibility of their production houses, but it do damage the name of actors.
