Heavy betting on Assembly and Lok Sabha poll results

Betting is taking place on different parameters, including the number of seats, winning majority and poll percentage Though Telugu Desam Party gained upper hand even in the MPTC and ZPTC elections results, YSR Congress has put up a good show and this has given scope for rampant betting. In anticipation that MLA and MP results would be a neck and neck affair on May 16; stakes are running high over the performance of the two parties. 

Betting is taking place on different parameters, including the number of seats, winning majority and poll percentage in different constituencies and even community-based performance of candidates. Party activists and other sections of people are discussing on the winning prospects of the two parties. While, TDP gained in East and West, Krishna and Guntur districts, YSR Congress fared well in Nellore, Prakasam, Kadapa, Kurnool and few other pockets in coastal and Seemandhra districts in the local body polls, fuelling apprehensions among political circles. 

As many are eliciting mixed response, contestants are worried over their prospects and people are betting in a big way. Punters are keeping huge amounts, gold ornaments and even flats and plots in the betting. While, pan shops, tea cafes, bakeries, ice cream parlours and cool drink shops are the ‘addas’ for low income and middle income groups, star hotels are the venues for high-stake betting. However, police cautioned the public against bettings and warned of stern action against those who are doing betting on election results. “We kept a vigil on betting and police are watching in their own way,”
