Now that the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh is almost in the final stages, the Seemandhra leaders who had fought tooth and nail to keep the State united have now come up with new demands. One such latest demand is: renaming Andhra Pradesh as “Telugu Nadu.” The demand was raised by maverick former MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal, who made a desperate attempt to stall bifurcation. According to him, the name “Andhra Pradesh” had lost relevance after the bifurcation of the State. Therefore, the name of residual Andhra Pradesh State should be changed into “Telugu Nadu.” Lagadapati suggested that the Assembly of the new State has to pass a resolution to this effect. In view of Rs 10,000-crore deficit budget for residual State of Andhra Pradesh, he said the new government should seek additional funds from the Centre for development of the State. He also said the two new State governments, which would have their secretariat in Hyderabad should work in coordination.
How About Renaming AP as 'Telugu Nadu'?
